History
The Schifflange amateur film club AMCIS-VIDEO PRODUCTION (Association des cinéastes et vidéastes non-professionnels de Schifflange) was founded in 1953 and has been a member of the FGDCA (Fédération luxembourgeoise des cinéastes et vidéastes non-professionnels – Luxembourg) since 1954.
In 1961, AMCIS won its first gold medal at the Luxembourg National Competition with the nature film “Au bord du sentier” by club member Paul LOUTSCH.
This was repeated in 1970 by the AMCIS film group Chronos-Film with the film “Fire” and the film “Gartenspuk” by AMCIS member Gaston ROLLINGER even received the bronze medal in the same year.
In 1971 the film “L’horreur des bois” by the film group Chronos-Film was awarded the silver medal and in 1974 the film “Der Sonntag” by the film group Chronos-Film was again awarded silver.
In 1992, AMCIS member Marc ERANG was again awarded the gold medal for best Luxembourgish amateur film with his film “Gwendolyn”.
Meanwhile, the committee consists of 8 people who meet once or twice a week in the editing and sound studio to work on various projects, such as: editing, cutting and the sound of the recorded material (television, concerts, various cultural or show organizations, local events and reports).
As AMCIS has invested heavily in state-of-the-art recording technology in recent years, it is now possible to process film productions in HD quality and to convert older films into the digital system and even improve them.
The first film to take part in such a process and to be set to music is the 16mm film about the town of Schiffleng from 1953-1956, shot by Mr. Aloyse CRELOT and Mr. Nic. LACHEN. To complete this film, a slide show of Mr. Raymond KOENIG’s pencil drawings of old buildings from Schifflingen was added.
Recently we have invested a lot in digital sound technology. This means that we can also include a very good sound recording in our films.
